Cenizo

Cenizo — barometro, the old-timers call it, the shrub that predicts the weather and is right more often than the man on the news. After every rain it erupts in purple. Full sun, terrible soil, almost no water. The most low-maintenance color you can plant in the Hill Country, which is to say it does the work and skips the credits. Save this one. 🌿

Silver leaves, purple bloom that forecasts the storm — it flowers on the humidity ahead of the rain, which feels like magic until you learn it's just paying closer attention than you are. Thrives on neglect and rocky caliche, two things the Hill Country supplies in abundance.
