The Edwards Aquifer Authority is the regulatory body governing the most important groundwater resource in South Central Texas. They set drought stages, monitor the J-17 reference well (the number you see in our hero strip), control well permits, and run public education programs. Any property in the EAA service area touches their rules.

How to use them
EAA's website is the source of truth for current drought stage and watering schedules. If you're drilling a new well or modifying an existing one in their jurisdiction, you cannot avoid them. Their data is free, real-time, and the basis for all serious Hill Country water planning. Their public education team will answer specific landowner questions if you call.
